This is a companion post to my post at my Examiner blog. Because Mr. Flores has been a significant topic of late on American Writes, I think it is important to be detailed here so that readers who may not follow my Examiner posts can still be up to date and, as the Examiner blog is supposed to more newsworthy than personal, I have made the editorial decision to put the article here and link to it from Examiner.
I had the pleasure and honor to speak with Texas 17 Congressional Candidate Bill Flores today as he was riding through a storm on the way to Granbury. My phone call to him was in response to his request that I call him after I had sent an email to all campaigns requesting an interview for the Examiner blog. Mr. Flores was the first to respond to that request.
Mr. Flores wanted me to call to discuss some ground rules for the interview and so that he could assure himself that he would get a fair shake from me. (more…)
I was visiting with my radical right wing friends at breakfast this morning when the point was made regarding supply and demand in the current Healthcare scandal proposal:
If we want to avoid longer lines at emergency rooms, doctors offices, and surgical wait time once we inject 47 Million people into the system with Government/Universal/Single payer healthcare, how many doctors would we need to increase our medical rolls by in order to meet that demand?
Second: Who owns one of the largest lending companies in America? That’s right…ostensibly you do, but really your President does. That company is GMAC.
Those first two letters stand for General Motors.

In the 1840s, Manifest Destiny was the cry of the citizenry. 1845 saw John K. O’Sullivan, a magazine editor, write that no nation on earth should be allowed to interfere with America’s “manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions,” echoing in popular sentiment the subtle but powerful Monroe Doctrine of two decades earlier.
It has been a prevailing axiom that as a tool of God, that which benefits America benefits the world and mankind. This had become an awesome and awe-inspiring prescription that begat results that were nothing short of miraculous reminiscent of divine intervention and divine right. (more…)
Never in the history of the world has the growth of a people in their social, political, technical, intellectual and entrepreneurial pursuits been so phenomenal as what has happened on this continent in the last 150 years, built on the four centuries previous to that and the 2000 generations preceding the time of a Genoan explorer. Whether Chian, Alexandrian, Egyptian, Greek or Roman, these cultures are mere sentinels in history, watching their very shadows eclipsed by the blossoming of a land, culture, and idea unique to our time and meant for the ages.
