Get A ROPE: Blank Check And Lone Star ‘Lie’ Catch Up With Bill Flores

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

No blank check?

Bill Flores uses his acronym “ROPE” to describe Reid, Obama, Pelosi, and Edwards. And he claims we didn’t give them a blank check in his latest mail piece:

Voting Record

Now, if you don’t vote, you give the victors a free ride. And, as my dad always says, “If you don’t vote, you can’t gripe.” (Dad uses a different word.)

The Lone Star Project broke this story a week ago. Read the article (more…)

Re-Elect Fred Brown for Texas State Representative District 14

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Thursday night, February 18, the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce, along with WTAW Radio and KBTX TV, hosted a State Representative District 14 candidate’s forum at the College Station Hilton. I discuss the Senate District 5 race here. And I discuss the actual event here.

The audio of the forum is at WTAW. To make it easy on you (WTAW seems to be set only for news readers right now), I have uploaded a copy that you can download or listen to, and provide that at the bottom of this post.I do have my own recording of the forum and the interactions afterward.

The candidates and incumbent were all in attendance. They were (more…)

No respect from Senator Ogden means a vote for Ben Bius

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I was talking to my banker on Friday, February 18, the day after the Texas Senate District 5 Candidate’s Forum. He summed it up this way: “Ogden is an elitist.”

Steve Ogden looking bored while asking Ben Bius a question

That’s the impression I got, too. And my banker wasn’t even at the forum – though he has lived in this community for decades and has served at the highest level in the Chamber of Commerce. It’s an impression of Ogden that does not need to be perpetuated and rewarded by sending him back to Austin. Steve Ogden seems to represent that which we have been deploring for (more…)

Uncut Audio Interviews with the #TX17 Candidates

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

American Write-Ins will remember that I asked each campaign for interview time. Please check that post if you haven’t seen it yet.

This post is the result of those interviews.

I contacted each campaign, and have email receipts that each campaign did receive the request. Four campaigns responded, and two granted the interview. (more…)

BREAKING #TX17 Candidate William Flores On Late Night Internet Only Interview

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Well, I had hoped Chris Clift would ask some questions he and I talked about on Wednesday…but he didn’t.

The disappointing thing is that Clift gave over 19 minutes of time to Flores, when he has only given the ten minute 5:40pm slot to the other candidates.

I was also disappointed that he said he started Phoenix Exploration from nothing (more…)

TX17 Chet Edwards Still Says No to Town Hall Meeting

Monday, August 10th, 2009

UPDATE: 2009-08-10 8:10PM -- New Video Added that shares the audio of our request for a face to face town hall meeting:

Well, we asked again…

Mug Shots of The Mob

Mug Shots of The Mob

Today at Noon 250 people showed up at Congressman Chet Edwards’ office in Bryan, Texas, to peacefully ask for a town hall meeting. His field representative, Phil Shackeford, said only the phone meeting was still scheduyled.

And that was for, as Phil put it, “…Doctors, nurse, those who have a stake in healthcare…”

Last I checked, every citizen in District 17 was human and occasionally got sick. That would make them “stakeholders”.

The audio and the video tells the take.  If you need to fast forward the audio to the time when we get to talk to Phil, it’s at about 50 minutes in. The line was long, as you will see in the video. (more…)

Obama on Healthcare Bill:“You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.”

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Mr. Obama had a conference call with Liberal Bloggers on Monday, 20 July 2009.obama-our-confused-president

In the audio attached below, the following exchange occurs:

During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (The quote begins around 17:10 into the call)

Redressing My Grievances

Monday, July 20th, 2009

So I went to Congressman Chet Edwards office in Bryan today.

There was a nice lady there (sorry, left her card in my car or I’d tell you her name, but it’s on the audio), Leila, who was certainly an advocate for Mr. Edwards…but i don’t think she was ready for all my concerns.

We covered healthcare and veterans and stem cells…the latter two were not my reason for going, but they are all connected.

She took my name and address (cleaned that off tha the audio…sorry!) and seemed to jot down one or two words…but I suspect I’ll get a form letter response, if anything. But I’m looking forward to opening a dialog here…I think she can be turned to the dark side. Maybe I should make it a point to visit every Friday. Hmmm… weekly reports on my redressing…

Anyhoo, here’s the audio. It’s about 12 minutes long.

(Oops! My audio editor isn’t working…I’ll post the audio as soon as I get it going!)

Update (29 July 2009): Got my audio editor working, but never posted the audio. That relates to my visit on 29 July that I comment about here.
