Meet The Real Texas 17 GOP Candidate – Matt Mackowiak

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Meet The Candidate - Matt Mackowiak. Yep, it scares us, too! ;)

Matt Mackowiak is Bill Flores’ Campaign Manager. When you hear Bill Flores speak, see his campaign material or the campaign strategy played out, or experience a tactical response from him or the campaign relative to something Chet Edwards does – you are seeing Matt Mackowiak – NOT Bill Flores.

That is my firm belief: that you are NOT seeing Bill Flores. The Bill Flores who has been described to me by dozens of party leaders and supporters is not the one you see. The one you see is trying to win on national issues and losing on local issues. He’s taking statistically calculated positions that are not in congruence with the Conservatives and Republicans in this District – but mesh perfectly with the national party’s playbook.

The quarterback is Matt Mackowiak, who in essence works for the NRCC, whether they pay him or not, because his future clients will come from the NRCC. He is The Candidate for future jobs…gunning for something important in the 2012 election cycle.

The NRCC has a playbook for national politics that includes recruiting self-financing candidates so they can save money yet still control the outcome by providing that candidate with “support” in the form of “consultants” like Matt whom they say are top-notch.

The self-financed Bill Flores has never done this before. He is smart enough to let people who know what they are doing do it, which is probably one of the keys to his success in business. The Henry Ford rule in practice: I’m not the smartest guy in this industry…so I hire the smartest guy.

However, Matt is 28, has never run a campaign before, and has only cut his teeth in the field of public relations in Washington, better known as the field of “spin.” A field he perfected as Spokesperson for Kay Bailey Hutchison…most likely the connection that got him the position with Bill, who was an ardent supporter of her gubernatorial run.

Bill is a straight shooting Texan. So are (more…)

What Bill Flores Won’t Do For Texas 17 In Congress

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Click on the image for a larger view.

While I still believe Bill Flores is not a Conservative to the standards of Ronald Reagan by which I measure a politician’s claim of ideological bent, I believe he is a Republican and not a RINO, and Conservatives have a good chance of being represented by him in Congress merely by the fact that we do not know what he will do when he gets to Washington. Bill is a smart man, and knows that continued Congressional tenure relies on dutifully and faithfully representing We, The People.

Scott Kimble wrote a very good piece about the use of the term RINO vs. Republican, and we at American Writes have taken to using that terminology he explores. If you missed it, check it out here before you go on.

Facts are stubborn things. Mr. Flores has experienced that at the hands of this very blog. Chet Edwards is about to experience them more pointedly.

But first… (more…)

If It Walks, Talks, And Smells Like A RINO – It Must Be A Republican

Friday, August 13th, 2010

They say politics makes strange bedfellows...

Bill Flores is not a RINO. Yes dear readers, I have put into print, stored electronically forever, Bill Flores will no longer be referred to as a RINO in my postings.

With the alphabetized, acronym filled world of politics we live in, we have all become “Alphabet Kids”. For those who may be new to this blog, allow me to give a brief cast of characters:

RNC—Republican National Committee—the controlling entity of all things Republican

TX CD17/CD17/TX17—Texas Congressional District 17—the Congressional District in Central Texas that includes all or part of Bosque, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Hill, Hood, Johnson, Limestone, Madison, Mclennan, Robertson and Somerville Counties: gerrymandered into existence after the 1990 Census in an attempt to unseat liberal Democrat, Chet Edwards

NRCC—National Republican Congressional Committee—an entity of the RNC that “recruits” candidates for congressional seats

RINO—Republican In Name Only—label attached by Conservatives to candidates who do not represent their Conservative views

ABC Crowd—Anybody But Chet—those voters who believe that our current Congressman in TX CD17, Chet Edwards, must be defeated no matter what this fall

Now the cast has been introduced we can get on with this tragedy.

Conservatives have known for years that the Republican Party was (more…)

Pork And Bean Counting In Texas 17

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Another example of earmark politics in TX CD17 and just like Pork Creek Park (aka Hamm Creek Park) Congressman Chet Edwards secured it for the county. We here in Johnson County will be stuck paying the tab—both in our Federal taxes and in our county taxes. Once Mr. Edwards has gotten his pat on the back and your vote, the county will forced to maintain these projects at YOUR expense.

Liberal politics and politicians will never change. Their first priority is to make us dependant on them for everything. Second, they bring home the money to make our lives nicer by creating more government jobs, road projects, parks, bike paths, etc. to help secure their re-election. Hey, we should get our fair share of the money, right? Bring that money from Iowa to Texas and send Texas money to New York! (more…)

A Tempest In A District 17 Tea Party (UPDATE – DEVELOPING)

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Following this developing story

Full disclosure requires you know that Angela and I have more than once locked horns over stances she had taken concerning a particular candidate during the congressional primary I felt violated the Tea Party rule of not endorsing a candidate.

I have spoken with a member of the leadership team of the now defunct Burleson Tea Party on the condition they remain anonymous to confirm this story.  That Angela has resigned and the Burleson Tea Party is dissolving is true.  The “hostile takeover” referred to is not.  By agreement of all parties, the Burleson Tea Party is disbanding.  The reasoning for disbanding is what we are attempting to discover.

Angela Cox is a passionate person, strong willed and full of resolve.  She will continue to be a voice in Johnson County and the northern portion of TX CD 17.

The Tea Party movement is the most important part of this current election cycle.  People who desire to be powerful and important will do many strange things to accomplish their personal goals and if the wrong person/persons gain control, the movement is doomed to fail.  The Tea Party groups in Johnson County must become major players for conservatives in our Congressional race and then join with other like minded groups and become the driving force for the 2012 elections that must change the direction our Nation is headed.  We will be watching closely as this story develops over the next few weeks.

A Tempest In A District 17 Tea Party (DEVELOPING)

From American Writes Staff Reporting

DEVELOPING…

…On Wednesday, 7 July 2010, very early in the morning, Angela Cox, Founder of the Burleson (TX) Tea Party released the following communiqué via email:

Angela Cox Resignation

American Writes received a copy of this email from an anonymous source. We believe that it was sent to the membership of the Burleson Tea Party.

…knowing there had been a rift in the organization for some time, American Writes Staff began contacting individuals intimate with the situation and history of the organization, from the general membership to the highest (more…)

Voting NOTA In District 17’s Congressional Race From The Founding Father’s Perspective

Friday, June 18th, 2010

From Dead Poets Society:

Keating: Now we all have a great need for acceptance, but you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own, even though others may think them odd or unpopular. Even though the herd may go “That’s bad.” Robert Frost said, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I, I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.” I want you to find your own walk right now, your own way of striding, pacing: any direction, anything you want. Whether it’s proud or silly. Anything. Gentlemen, the courtyard is yours. You don’t have to perform. Just make it for yourself. Mr. Dalton, will you be joining us?

Charles: Exercising the right not to walk.

Keating: Thank you, Mr. Dalton. You just illustrated the point. Swim against the stream.

Robin Williams’ Keating may not be tutoring a Founding Father, but his pupil exemplifies and he protects  that which is inherent in all of us and guaranteed by the Constitution.

Our right to vote.

American Herald Scott Kimble catches some grief for being the point man on the American Writes position that true conservatives won’t misrepresent themselves by voting against their conservative conscience and selecting RINO Bill Flores at the ballot. I’ve had to remove from public view some comments that attacked him personally instead of addressing the topic, a violation of the policies of this blog; and Scott has had some engaging conversation on his facebook page.

We contend that, without marked change or proof from Bill Flores himself that he really is Conservative and, more importantly, Constitutionally-loyal, then voting for him only places, if he wins, another RINO at the beck and call of the failed Republican Party. We assert this in many posts on this blog, with particular focus on Texas 17’s own Alphabet Kids.

It seems Scott and American Writes are not alone (more…)

An American Write And A Texas 17 Wrong

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Greetings my fellow Conservatives, RINO’s and liberals hoping to gather more ammunition against your opponents.  It is a great honor for me to join Kristofer in his ongoing fight against the socialistic agenda of the current administration.

Now I understand how the Dutch boy felt as he held back the flood that would destroy him, his family and his town.  Desperation, hopelessness and fear of losing those things most precious to him had to be overwhelming.  However, through perseverance he saved all of them.

We Conservatives are trying to just stop the bleeding away of our freedoms while the liberal hoard finds new ways of destroying this nation.  Electing “moderate” Republicans will not do the trick.  Back in the late 1980’s, we fought the “big tent/moderate” wing of the Republican Party at every turn.  Their leadership discovered that drastic change would not work, so slowly but surely they infiltrated leadership of the Conservative movement and took over.  In doing so, they taught the Democrats how to get their puppets elected by acting like Republicans then using their incumbency to hold on.  Thus the term RINO was born.

Texas Congressional District 17 now has a RINO as our (more…)

Texas 17 Is Going To Hell – I’m Going To Washington

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Constitutional and Conservative Bill Randall is in the runoff on June 22 in North Carolina 13. He’s against a Country Club Republican who is attempting to hide his anti-Tea Party and Pro-Choice leanings.

Constitutional and Conservative Jaynee Germond is running in Oregon 4 against a late-comer rich guy picked by the NRCC, after running for a year against another relatively regular guy in the race. The rich dude just got in and dropped a quarter million into the race. Sound familiar? The primary is tomorrow.

Constitutional and Conservative Jake Towne is in Pennsylvania. Jake is an Independent Constitutional Candidate who wants to represent District 15 – the Lehigh Valley – where my own now-liberal Dad went to school.

Constitutional and Conservative John Dennis is in California 8, the seat Nancy Pelosi holds.

Constitutional and Conservative Donald Strong is in Tennessee; Alex Snitker is in Florida; RJ Harris is in Oklahoma, as is Howard Houchen. And Tony Gentile is in Louisiana.

And these are just a few. US House and Senate Candidates.

I have been spinning my wheels on Constitution-Sovereignty-denying and recent convert to Republican Party Pro-Choicer Bill Flores and I accept now that it’s a futile effort were I to continue writing alone. All it does is take me away from the obligations I have to these people above and their genuinely Constitution-based ideologies. So I won’t be writing alone… (more…)

Bitterness Is Next To Unhappiness When It Comes To My Support For Bill Flores In Texas 17 Race Against Chet Edwards

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

I had a Texas Congressional District 17 GOP County Chair send me a nice email opining that my post-runoff posts about Bill Flores seemed bitter and not helpful. Bitter for the most part because Bill did not grant me an interview during the primary.

I replied and acknowledged that probably 20% of me is bitter for that reason. Who wouldn’t be? Someone better than me, I guess.

But I wrote this person and told them my bitterness doesn’t come from the lack of an interview.

It comes from the lies I’ve been told and have experienced. And it doesn’t change the facts that are out there and the questions they raise.

I explained it in more direct terms so that this GOP leader would know I had a leg to stand on and proof to boot, but generally I said what lies (more…)
