My Congressman’s Staff Disappoints Me

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

About two weeks ago I visited Congressman Chet Edwards’ (D-TX 17) Bryan, Teas office. I commented about that here.IMG00002

Chet Edwards - "Please just answer the question."

Chet Edwards - "Please just answer the question."

I went back today.

Leila, who was very cordial to me before, was not at all like that this time. Seems one of the things they do at that office is Google your name after you visit, which brought her to my Redressing My Grievances post. As I was sitting myself down, she asked me if I had brought my recorder with me this time. I said I had, and she asked me to turn it off and said something about it not being allowed in a federal office, or some such. I turned it off prior to that, because I’m a nice guy and my primary purpose for visiting is to redress my grievances, not get anybody in any “gotcha” situations.

I use a digital recorder for all my client visits and taking notes. A one-eyed guy doesn’t have a lot of resources to spend on a notepad and pen, so my recorder is with me wherever I go. Note that I never posted the audio on the blog, or anywhere else on the web. (more…)

Redressing My Grievances

Monday, July 20th, 2009

So I went to Congressman Chet Edwards office in Bryan today.

There was a nice lady there (sorry, left her card in my car or I’d tell you her name, but it’s on the audio), Leila, who was certainly an advocate for Mr. Edwards…but i don’t think she was ready for all my concerns.

We covered healthcare and veterans and stem cells…the latter two were not my reason for going, but they are all connected.

She took my name and address (cleaned that off tha the audio…sorry!) and seemed to jot down one or two words…but I suspect I’ll get a form letter response, if anything. But I’m looking forward to opening a dialog here…I think she can be turned to the dark side. Maybe I should make it a point to visit every Friday. Hmmm… weekly reports on my redressing…

Anyhoo, here’s the audio. It’s about 12 minutes long.

(Oops! My audio editor isn’t working…I’ll post the audio as soon as I get it going!)

Update (29 July 2009): Got my audio editor working, but never posted the audio. That relates to my visit on 29 July that I comment about here.
