Rich Galen is a political commentator, or pundit. I prefer the term “hack” for all of these talking heads because, really, the only difference between them and us is they get on TV and get paid for it, which then gets them paid by some politician…or perhaps its the other way around in some instances. Either way, they have opinions that people pay for, whereas you and I have opinions people don’t pay for.
I heard once that opinions are like armpits: Everybody has them, and they all stink.
So tread carefully on whatever I say. It’s my opinion.
So, Rich Galen has a “Cyber-Column” or Blog that he sends out to subscribers three times a week (twice a week in August, when he takes a hiatus with all the politicians). This column is called “Mullings” and appears to have some 30,000+ subscribers. You can subscribe at no cost, though there is a subscription drive just before the Hannukah/Christmas season (Which I’ve noticed hacks like and including Galen celebrate both!) for $30 a year. Rich is also a constant face on Fox News Weekend Live and CNN, typically squaring off against Democrat Bob Beckel and others like him.
The rest you can find out by going to the site: mullings.com
Rich is a Republican. He was part of Newt Gingrich’s inner circle in 1994. I do not know if they are affiliated anymore, though I would hope Newt would not suffer such association.
Rich is a Republican. A Neo-Con. This means he is not a conservative. That’s an important point.
On Friday, February 8, Galen wrote a column titled “Are Rush, Sean & Laura Doing the Work of the MSM?” This was Galen’s first column since Romney left the race, and as predictable as sheep, Galen was one of those saying the party has to coalesce around the presumptive nominee , John McCain.
Galen. like the rest of the hacks, makes his bread and butter on the Republican gravy train, so of course he has to be in lock-step with the party mantra…even when the party isn’t the party of Ronald Reagan anymore.
But he claims that Limbaugh, Hannity, and Ingraham are doing the work of the mainstream media, when the mainstream media has already been doing the work that pulled the wool over Rich Galen’s eyes. Now he’s a Kool-Aid drinking liberal in the Republican Party, not so long after he was a paid advisor to the Thompson campaign.
Galen claims that it is for the good of the party, and therefore the good of the country.
I say if you sell out, you’re no good at all.
BTW: I recommend you read Rich’s stuff. He is insightful, and has a sense of humor. Just sometimes off the mark a bit and perhaps an unwitting Soldier for The Left. I have his site listed in my Blogroll.
